MixTube Equalizer

Equalizer

Tune MixTube to your headphones instead of putting up with how they sound. Here is what each band does and where to start.

Make your music sound right on your headphones

No two pairs of headphones sound the same. Cheap earbuds tend to lose bass, some over-ears push it too hard, phone speakers have almost none, and car systems colour everything. An equalizer is how you correct for that instead of living with it.

MixTube has one built in. Open it from the player, pick a starting point, and adjust until it sounds the way you want.

What the bands actually do

An equalizer splits sound into frequency ranges and lets you raise or lower each one:

Small moves. A couple of steps up or down is usually enough. Large boosts make a track louder rather than better, and can push it into distortion.

Starting points

Presets get you most of the way. From there, a few adjustments that tend to help:

Where to find it

The equalizer sits in the MixTube player alongside the rest of the controls, and applies to your offline library as well as online playback. Set it once and it stays.

Frequently asked questions

Does MixTube have an equalizer?

Yes. MixTube includes a built-in equalizer so you can shape the sound to your headphones or speakers, with presets to start from.

How do I use the equalizer in MixTube?

Open the equalizer from the player, pick a preset that suits what you are listening to, and adjust the bands from there if you want to fine-tune it.

What do the equalizer bands do?

Lower bands control bass, the middle bands cover vocals and most instruments, and the higher bands control treble and detail. Raising a band makes that part of the sound louder relative to the rest.

Will the equalizer work with Bluetooth headphones?

The equalizer applies to MixTube's own playback, so it affects what you hear through wired and Bluetooth output alike. Some Bluetooth headphones also apply their own processing on top.
